20-23 Junio 2018. Malaga

20 Jun 2018:
Llegue al aeropuerto y tome el tren hasta Malaga Central. Alli me encuentro mi amiga, ella se mudo a Malaga desde los estados unidos hacia 2 anos.

The first day was a jet lag adjustment day. I wandered around her neighborhood with her and did some simple errands like getting myself sunblock, freshly baked bread, and stopping by the bank. She pointed out some sites and we caught up over recent life experiences. I had only slept about an hour on the airplane and could barely hold myself upright to listen. I was distracted on the airplane by watching "A Wrinkle in Time", "Lady Bird", "The Iconoclast", "The Party", and "Ingrid Goes West" - none of which were particularly extraordinary films. I took the afternoon to myself to rest and refresh myself.

At night we caught the end of Spain vs. Iran World Cup match at Cafe con Libros in the Plaza Merced. After the match, we walked to the Teatro Cervantes to get the best pizza at Pizzeria Cervantes. We sat outside and talked. We wandered through the old town to get to the rooftop of  AC Hotel Malaga Palacio - Cortina del Muelle, 1, Malaga  29015 Spain.

The night ended with dancing at Chiquita Cruz. Free salsa and bachata dance classes on Wednesdays nights with the purchase of 3 euro /6 euro drink coupons. Dancing until 02h. Lots of fun and great people.

21 Jun 2018:
Hoy fuimos a la playa y en la noche fuimos al circo.

It was a late start. I got all the sleep I needed. We knew we were going to enjoy a beach day. I was asked which beach I preferred to visit. I chose "hippie beach" with a pretty beach 5 minutes walk nearby. We walked by the Alcazaba and under a tunnel to catch a bus to Bolivia (Banos del Carmen).
We walked through a restaurant named Terraza-Restaurante El Balneario de Los Baños del Carmen. We could use their bathrooms if needed. "Hippie beach" was a rocky space with trees that provided shade. People come and practice slack line. There were many dogs that day and in the afternoon there was music. A man had brought his guitar and really made the environment nice.

Initially, we had taken the 5-minute walk to a pretty beach in a little inlet. It weekday and the families were away. I was told that on the weekends, many families pack this beach space. We sunbathed for a while and were ready to get into the water when we discovered the reason why no one was really swimming. There were so many tiny little jellyfish. Locally, they were called "medusas". I have
not had any personal experiences with jellyfish. We were standing along the edge of the water and would run back like little children when the waves crashed on the sand. Running away from the jellyfish, pointing out all the jellyfish and judging whether there was a safe place. We ended up deciding to go back to "hippie beach".

I spent the afternoon listening to the philosophies of a man who was un-cubing himself from the structures imposed by society and reconnecting spherically to the earth. He guided us through the rocks into the ocean and taught me how to hug the sea and walk on water. For a period of time, he used to live on this beach but has since made it a daily ritual to make his practice at the beach. After many hours in the sun, I discovered I had forgotten to put sunblock on my knees and they were painfully angry with me and the sun.

We made our way back to my friend's home to prepare ourselves for Cirque du Soleil: TOTEM. It was amazing!
